- Best liver transplant one-year and three-year patient survival outcomes among all liver transplant centers in Texas. Program received a 96.6 percent one-year survival rating for patients receiving their first liver transplant from January 2006 to June 2008 (source: www.ustransplant.org). This rating is also above the national average for all transplant centers in the U.S.
- Transplanted more medically urgent patients than any other transplant program in Texas (based on patient MELD scores).
- Only transplant center in Central and South Texas approved to offer a new innovative treatment therapy used to treat primary liver cancer patients when surgery, transplantation or tumor ablation is not a viable option.
- Care for primary or metastatic liver tumors with multiple modalities including radiofrequency ablation, radioactive microspheres, chemoembolization, chemotherapy, liver resection, and liver transplantation.
- Integrated hepatology/liver transplant program offering specialized care for complex Hepatitis B and C cases by board-certified transplant hepatologist.
- Dedicated clinical research program providing patients access to the newest developments in transplant medications and management.
- Facilities allow for prompt acceptance for patients with acute fulminant hepatic failure with quick listing for high priority transplantation.
